Maura's friend Madeline Stoner visits Maura and tells her about her experiments to reverse aging. Someone attempts to murder her. England's famous consulting detective, Sonar T. Foom is called to investigate the attempted murder.
Madeline tells Maura that she is going to England to see a female friend
"Dr. Vivian Stanshall". Vivian Stanshall is a reference to the male
singer from "The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band" also known as the "Bonzo Dog
Band". Another well know member of that group is Neil Innes who also
worked with Monty Python and was the voice and song writer from The
Beatles novelty band The Rutles. Then at the end of the episode,
Foom receives a message that every episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus
has been stolen.
This is the second, and last episode, with a story in the style of
Sherlock Holmes with the characters Sonar T. Foom and Dr. Mcguffin
Drone. While I liked this episode, the original episode with Sonar
T. Foom is better. I think this episode would have benefited as a
two part episode, like the original, with some more mystery added to the
script. They could have gone more into the anti-aging idea and more
investigation with more characters that could be suspects.
Again, there is an obvious edit in the credits where the distribution would have been listed.
The official CD lists this episode as "The Parallax Deception". During the credits of the show, Roger Dressler states the title as "The Adventure of the Parallax Deception". Roger's title is likely the correct title and it parallels the other story, "The Adventure of the Egyptian Necklace".
