An Alien Worlds Special. A tale that unfolds in an atmosphere that existed many centuries before the inhabitants of Planet Earth had the slightest grasp of Outer Space. We are transported thousands of years back in time and space to the planet, Illythiah, where events begun and overseen by that world's only first magnitude Starpriest will prove to have a timeless and everlasting effect on Earth and its people.
As Lee Hanson states at the start of this program, this two part episode is a standalone science fiction story, separate from the ISA story line. The story starts as Dayos listens to a book that can describe future events. Sayos and Sibella will be making another trip to Terraloo to find Aram. Dayos describes a fuel accident where a woman was changed into a pillar of white stone while she was looking back. It is decided to make a trip to Terraloo to help them fight the anti-light virus by giving them an embryon child.
This is the only story that does not involve the usual characters. The episode is introduced by Lee Hanson himself who says the following, "This is Lee Hanson. The next two episodes of Alien Worlds will not involve Starlab or our friends in the ISA. This week Alien Worlds pursues a new horizon. We're going to take you on a mystical journey through a science fiction fantasy adventure that explores the intergalactic origins of spiritual evil; and how the inhabitants of the ancient planet of Olythia set out to neutralize that evil over 2000 years ago. Here then are Olin Soule, Lorraine Tuttle, Russi Taylor and Roger Dressler in part one of our special presentation, "Earth Light".
While it is not clear to me how to spell the character name "Aram", backwards it is "Mara", very close to the regular character 'Maura".
The woman turned in to a pillar is a Biblical reference to Lot's wife who was turned into a pillar of salt.
It is stated that Taraloo is in the void of the nine worlds.
The people of Olythia are trying to fight the Dark Bringers who destroy and infect worlds. They can infect populations with the dark bringer anti-light virus and that virus is on Taraloo.
This is the first episode where the actors are credited along with the characters they played.
The spaceship used by Dayous and Sibella is described as organic.
While this story is separate from the ISA universe of stories, it said that the cause of evil is due to infections from "The Dark Bringer virus." In the episode, "The ISA Conspiracy", the first episode is called "The Dark Bringers".
At the end of the episode, it is reviled that the embryon child will be called, "Jesus". I don't think this is a big surprise. It is really an affirmation that the story is a setup for several religious events ending in the birth of Jesus. In the past science fiction writers such as Rod Serling and Gene Roddenberry have talked about how some issues could not be written about unless they were put into the guise of some other planet or alien where these events are taking place. Religion is often one of those subjects.
